The "Archie’s" did it again…D3 State Champs for the second year running and ask anyone who saw them play and they’ll tell you it all starts with their terrific point guard Christine Duffy! Duff’ was selected to both the Globe Super Team and the Herald Dream Team…kid handles the rock 90% of the time, hits the open person, takes it to the goal, knocks down the 3 ball, makes steals, and flat out loves to play the game.… Ashley Rivera finishes her career as Lowell’s all time leading scorer and perhaps the best guard ever to play at the school. She is another McDonald’s nominee, named to both the Globe Super Team and the Herald Dream Team, a multiple MVC MVP winner which in itself is a phenomenal achievement…has some D1 interest from Florida A&M and Nichols State…what a career!.... Kelly Meredith is a terrific kid, a McDonald’s All America nominee, a Herald Dream Teamer and Globe All Scholastic, a superb all-around basketball talent who may be the best ever to play at Franklin High and a player I think will have an excellent career the next 4 years at Assumption College….Brockton’s 5’11” Taryn Johnson is the real deal who is another McDonald’s All American nominee and now a three-time Herald All-Scholastic including being named to the Herald’s Dream Team. She broke the 1,000 point barrier and is headed to the rough world of D1 college sports as she will suit up for Fairfield next winter.…Caroline Stewart is another McDonald’s nominee, named to both the Globe Super Team and the Herald Dream Team, and this versatile 6 footer did something few players can attest to having scored over 1,000 points and also pulled down more than 1,000 rebounds in her great high school career…Masco’s loss will be a huge gain for D1 Boston University… Amy Lepley kind of snuck up on me but I’m glad she did and that people pointed out her great talent to me as she can score inside and out, can pass, rebound, and at 6’1” and a legit guard, she will make some D1 college coach very happy when she signs next year… Amy was also named both a Herald and Globe All Scholastic. |

| Position | Name | High School | Class | College Choice |
| Guard | Jackie Lyons | Reading | Junior | Only a Junior |
| Guard | Jill Greenberg | Westwood | Senior | Williams |
| Guard | Meghan Thomann | Andover | Senior | Bentley |

| Center | Katie Zenevich | Central Catholic | Sophomore | Only a Soph |
| "6th Man" | Morgan Kendrew | Barnstable | Senior | Brandeis |
|
Jackie Lyons lost her sophomore year to an ACL injury but boy did she make up for it this winter. She was named a Herald All Scholastic, averaged 18 points and 6 assists a game, and is what I call a “24/7” kid who would gladly play hoops instead of sleeping if she could as she flat out loves to play the game… Jill Greenberg was a well deserved Tri-Valley MVP again this year, a McDonald’s All America nominee and named to both the Herald and Globe All-Scholastic teams. This 5’10” dynamo does it all as a point guard having scored over 1,000 points while dishing out over 500 assists and making over 450 steals…She was a terrific leader on the court…off the court…and in the classroom…girl loves the game and boy does it show…Meghan Thomann is another McDonalds nominee and Herald All Scholastic who also broke the 1,000 point barrier this year leading her club to the state championship game in D1. She is one of the best 3 point shooters in recent memory around these parts and is a terrific all-around talent on the court. She should continue this great success when she heads to Waltham to be a Bentley Falcon the next 4 years.…With D1 Top 25 teams like Maryland, BC, and Notre Dame knocking on your door already you know this kid can play. Junior Mary Nwachukwa is a slender 6’2” but her game is huge and smooth as silk. She scored more than 600 points pumping in more than 30 a game this year and was the leading scorer in EMass…She was a Globe Super teamer and Herald All Scholastic…This kid has an incredible future…Though only a soph, 6’2” Katie Zenevitch will at some point be universally referred to as “the best player in Mass”…it’s not a question of “may some day” but only a question of “when.” She has impressed so many folks that BC and Holy Cross are supposedly ready to offer her a scholarship right now…She was a Herald All-Scholastic as a frosh and named again this winter…she can do it all on the court…she blocks shots, bangs the boards, hits 3’s, sees the floor and can handle. Coach Sue Downer must be thrilled that she’s going to be back for 2 more years....Morgan Kendrew can flat out shoot the rock as anyone will attest who saw her average 33 points a game in the tough Comcast Tourney…she was a McDonald’s nominee and a Herald and Globe All Scholastic and will graduate as Barnstable’s all time leading scorer…Brandeis Coach Carol Simon knows she’s getting a good one! |

Third Team |

| Position | Name | High School | Class | College Choice |
| Guard | Cori O’Kane | Spellman | Senior | Stonehill |
| Guard | Laura Renfro | Andover | Senior | Williams |
| Forward | Courtney Finn | Winthrop | Junior | Only a Junior |
| Forward | Emily Trapp | Whitman-Hanson | Junior | Only a Junior |
| Center | Kathleen King | Framingham | Senior | Babson |
| "6th Man" | Michelle DeRoma | Mt. Alvernia | Senior | AIC |
|
Cori O’Kane has had a terrific 4 year run at Spellman capped off this year by being named both a Herald and Globe All Scholastic. She is the consummate team player and has done everything Coach Pat Lamb demands (and that’s a ton) each and every night be it on the defensive end, making a key pass or knocking down a clutch 3 pointer or this year especially by making free throws late in big games. She’s heading to D2 power Stonehill and will be a welcome sight next fall when she’s seen in the gym down in Easton....Laura Renfro is a quiet unassuming player who rarely shows any emotion on the court…she just knocks down big 3 pointers all day long. In the NFL they talk of “shut down corners”…well this kid shut down every guard she was told to cover again this year and was named both a Herald and Globe All Scholastic and she’ll be part of a terrific backcourt at Williams College the next 4 years…. Winthrop’s Courtney Finn was a Herald All-Scholastic last year and this year and also was selected to the Globe Super Team…This deadeye smooth southpaw can shoot the rock from all over the court and broke the 40 point mark against Watertown in the state tourney….she already has some interest from D1 BU and has already scored over 1.300 points in her career with another year to go.…Emily Trapp is one of the more athletic 6’1”kids you’ll see anywhere. She was named to the Herald All Scholastic team and has already gone over the 1,000 point barrier with another season left in her career. She will be chased by many college coaches over the next year as she will go down as perhaps the best player ever to suit up for W-H!...Framingham’s Kathleen King broke out of the long and brilliant shadows of former Flyer greats Josey and Beliveau this winter setting some impressive standards in her senior year by scoring at a 22 a game clip while pulling down 13 boards a game…She was named to both the Herald and Globe All Scholastic clubs and will be moving on to hopefully set the same standards at Babson College the next 4 years…Mt. Alvernia is a D4 power but many times the small schools get overlooked. College coaches obviously opened their eyes at 5’11” do-it-all star Michelle DeRoma as she has a full ride to D2 power AIC. The Herald’s Dan Ventura was suitably impressed with her terrific performance in the state’s to name her to the Herald All Scholastic team, a well deserved award for this hard working all around talent.… |

| Position | Name | High School | Class | College Choice |
| Guard | Jill Lyon | Senior | Dartmouth | |
| Guard | Erin Baldwin | Senior | Southern NH | |
| Guard | Alexandra Fiola | Durfee | Senior | Southern CT |
| Forward | Amber Smith | Ipswich | Junior | Only a Junior |
| Forward | Renee LeBlanc | Waltham | Senior | Westfield St. |
| "6th Man" | Casey Capello | Archbishop Williams | Senior | Undecided |
|
Jill Lyon is the other half of probably the best basketball duo ever to suit up down at Barnstable…She always led her club in assists, steals, and broke every press with her flawless ball handling…somehow she even managed to break the 1,000 point mark as well proving what an all-around basketball talent this kid was for all 4 years….Herald and Globe All-Scholastic Erin Baldwin will graduate this year as the all time leading scorer in Fairhaven High history and also holding the single game record with 38 points…She will be taking this deadeye shot from the South up North to ply her trade at up and coming Southern New Hampshire in the toughest D2 league in the country…the Northeast 10…Southern Connecticut won the 2007 D2 National Championship by making smart recruiting decisions and they have done it again. Alex Fiola is another 1,000 point scorer who might have gotten more “pub” if Durfee hadn’t gotten some key injuries this winter that set them back…Not to worry as this kid is heading to a highly successful college program and should enjoy a fine 4 year stay in Southern Connecticut.…A Herald All-Scholastic last year as a soph and again this year as a junior, Amber Smith continues to fill up a stat sheet. She already is the all time leading scorer in Ipswich history with over 1,300 points going into her senior year and will get some serious college interest.…Waltham’s Renee LeBlanc doesn’t get much respect in the Boston papers but this kid can play the game and flat out score….She can nail the 3 ball along with playing tough inside. Got a feeling Westfield State is getting a steal with this kid who may be a better college player than she was in high school where she was forced to be inside almost the entire game…just my opinion but…kid can play…Let’s see… Casey Capello spent 2 years with the “Archies” and won 2 D3 state titles…not a bad average for this sharpshooter who was named a Herald All Scholastic this winter and ends her career scoring over 1,200 points. This quiet unassuming 5’10” senior has yet to decide on her college choice but should be a nice surprise for whatever campus she ends up at next fall… |
| Fifth Team |

| Guard | Ellery Gould | Sandwich | Senior | Bowdoin |

| Forward | Reilly Poirier | Cardinal Spellman | Junior | Only a Junior |
|
This kid is another who had a brilliant high school career at L-S with 1 state title and multiple Garden appearances. Sarah Wetmore was named to both the Herald and Globe All Scholastic teams and was named the Dual County League MVP…Amanda McCarthy is a high energy kid who does it all on the court and in the classroom as well …she scored more than 1,500 points in her career including 21 a game this winter and still managed a 4.0 GPA…She was named a Herald All Scholastic and is heading to Worcester Academy for a “PG” year that hopefully allows her to get into Harvard…as I said…”A-Mac” loves the game and is another “24/7” kid who has a brilliant future…Ellery Gould was named both a Herald and a Globe All Scholastic and had very similar numbers to her cohorts named here…pumped in 21 a game this year and is Sandwichs’ all time leading scorer with over 1,500 points…More impressively to me is the fact she was captain of her team each of the last 3 years showing she’s a great leader as well…Tasia Kearse stepped up big for L-S this year leading them to their 2nd straight Garden appearance. “TK” is a 6 footer who runs like a deer, has great “ups,” can handle and hit the 15 footer and will be a fine addition to the Bentley Falcons…Reilly Poirier is a personable kid from a strong family who is also the consummate teammate her Spellman pals rely on. She is a tough player who does whatever it takes to get the job done inside and whatever it takes to win basketball games. This kid should have a super senior year next winter as Spellman should be strong again. |

| Forward | Jackie Bohenek | Rockland | Senior | Don’t Know |

|
Marissa Mello may not make any All Scholastic basketball teams but this kid can flat out play the game…this 3 sport star may be the best all-around female athlete in the state as she is fabulous in soccer, bball, and softball. Note that the hoops are listed 2nd and it seems funny to put a future BC soccer player this high but boy does she deserve it…North Quincy’s Becca Goreham is another who slipped under too many radar screens and missed being selected by the Boston writers but this kid can play…She can handle, score, rebound, and probably play all 5 positions…She ended her career as the school’s all time leading scorer and broke the record for assists as well…She could be a steal for Walter Paschal out at Fitchburg State for the next 4 years…Meghan Kirwan is the latest in a long line of superb basketball talents developed in the Melrose program…She’s a terrific kid who led Melrose to yet another Middlesex League title this year…she’s undecided on next year but will be a joy to coach the next 4 years for whatever coach she chooses to play for…Rockland’s 6’ star Jackie Bohenek has proven she is one of the all-time best ever to play at this basketball tradition rich school. She is another who surpassed the 1,000 point barrier and from what I hear may be even better in Track…Her Patriot League opponents will surely be glad to see her graduate this spring…Pentucket’s Kirsten Daamen is 6’2” and one of the most feared inside defensive forces in the state…She can also pop in a nice turn-around “J” from the lane and led her club to a 2nd straight Garden appearance this winter…She’ll be back terrorizing opponents up North again next winter and could see her Sachems end up at the Garden again a year from now. |
